Description of the Analysis Kit

PCBs, or polychlorinated biphenyls, are bioaccumulative, carcinogenic, and endocrine-disrupting substances. Chronic exposure to low doses of these substances poses a health risk.

PCBs were widely used as electrical insulators and flame-retardant additives in industrial facilities. They were also used as flame-retardant additives in many consumer products.

Banned since 1972, these persistent organic pollutants (POPs)—listed on the Stockholm List—degrade very slowly and are unfortunately still present in water and soil. They accumulate in living organisms and contaminate the food chain, ultimately reaching humans.

These chemical compounds are toxic and have effects on reproduction, particularly by disrupting the endocrine system, and are suspected of being carcinogenic. Exposure to PCBs, even at low doses, can have serious health consequences.

List of Pollutants Analyzed

The PCB analysis covers the 6 indicator PCBs and the 12 dioxin-like PCBs, which are recognized as the most concerning for human health. This list is expanded to include up to 32 PCBs.

Contents of an analysis kit

Everything is includedin your analysis kit:

  • A Dustream® Collectorsampling device(vacuum cleaner filter with nozzle and universal adapter);
  • Detailed instructionsto guide you step by step through the process;
  • Aprepaidreturn envelopefor sending your samples to the laboratory (from mainland France only);

Using the Analysis Kit

Results and Turnaround Time

Your sample is analyzed in our laboratory, and your analysis report will be available no later than 15 business days after receipt of the sample (this timeframe is reduced to 5 days if you select the “express” option).

You will receive a comprehensive report detailing: the list of pollutants tested for in your samples, the pollutants detected and their concentrations, toxicological data regarding the detected pollutants, and recommendations for improving the quality of your indoor environment.

PCB Dust

Minimum order required: 5 kits.

Test kit to assess contamination of a home by flame retardants (PCBs: polychlorinated biphenyls).
