Description of the Analysis Kit
Pesticides (plant protection products) are widely used in agriculture, particularly in the cultivation of grains, vineyards, and orchards. These toxic chemicals are applied directly to crops by spraying. This application method disperses a large portion of the pesticides into the environment (air, water, and soil). These compounds, which are hazardous to health, run off into waterways or seep into groundwater, contaminating the water resources used to produce tap water for human consumption.
Current regulations require that the pesticide content in water intended for human consumption be determined. This data is reported by local governments and water suppliers. However, these tests are not conducted frequently enough to guarantee that the water you drink every day meets these health standards. Furthermore, only instances where the standard is exceeded are reported. What about the water supplied to your home? The testing kit we offer allows you to perform this test and find out whether you can safely drink your tap water without risk to your health! Using a water sample from your home, Kudzu Science analyzes the pesticides present and provides a pesticide report for your water.
Depending on the package you choose, the analysis covers
- the most common herbicides in tap water, such as atrazine and its degradation products,
- persistent organic pollutants listed under the Stockholm Convention, such as 4,4-DDT and its degradation products, aldrin, dieldrin, endrin, and heptachlor,
- other herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides.
The selected pesticides are responsible for nearly all instances where drinking water quality standards for pesticides have been exceeded.
By identifying the pesticides present in your drinking water, you can assess the risks to your health and that of your family, and take preventive measures to limit your level of exposure.
List of pollutants analyzed
- Herbicides, including atrazine and chlortoloron
- Persistent organic pollutants, including DDT and lindane
- Other pesticides, including fipronil and propiconazole
Contents of an analysis kit
Everything is included in your analysis kit:
- 1 detailed instruction manual
- 1 sample collection form
- 1 water bag
- 1 filter cartridge
- 1 prepaid return envelope (Metropolitan France only)
- 1 analysis
- 1 comprehensive, personalized, and interpreted report with details of your results
How to Use the Testing Kit
Until now, it was necessary to send liters of water to laboratories to have a water analysis performed. Thanks to Kudzu Science, all you need to do is return the provided sampling filter in the prepaid return envelope.
Results and turnaround time
Your sample is analyzed in our lab, and your analysis report will be available no later than 15 business days after we receive the sample.
You’ll receive a comprehensive and easy-to-understand report on your water analysis.
In the first section of your report, you’ll find the results of the analyses performed, allowing you to assess the quality of your water with regard to the pesticides tested for.
In the second section, each pesticide detected in your water sample is covered in an individual fact sheet detailing the reference threshold values for concentrations in water, its typical use (authorized or prohibited), the main manufacturers and trade names, and toxicological information.
Finally, in the last section of the report, you will find information about pesticides in water, advice, and useful links to help you limit your exposure to pesticides.
